I was asked to take on the newsletter for the Maple Ridge Garden Club last fall. Its been an interesting, and somewhat more complicated than I initially thought, task.

Does anyone else on these boards write about gardening and/or edit a garden club or plant society newsletter?

I would particularly like to take a look at some samples of newsletters from other clubs.

Well, since they can be found via a targetted search on Google, I don't think I'm giving away any secrets by suggesting you check out http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/vrs/ for the newsletters of the Vancouver Rhodo Society - the link might not last forever, as I'm assuming the VRS will get its own site one day, but for now, that's where they are...

That's a great newsletter Daniel. Thanks for pointing me to it. One nice aspect of putting a gardening newsletter together is that it doesn't feel like work - but I guess that is the trick to any volunteer activity. I am looking for ideas for regular sections and layout. I alternate monthly between a 10-12 page newsletter and a 4 page newsletter - with the former being mailed to anyone who doesn't show up to the monthly meeting. Club members are always interested in gardening events going on across the lower mainland - I have found collecting some of that information a little challenging as well.

The Alpine Club of BC have their newsletters posted on their website as well. I don't have the link but you'll find it doing a search.
