Interesting ... I buy commercially grown mushrooms of this species sometimes. I assumed that there was still wild-harvesting of this in China and that region, but this article suggests this has become rare there. The most northerly limit of the NA range for this appears to be somewhere in Washington state, but perhaps as global warming progresses we will see it in B.C. So odd that he is keeping it in water in bucket, which would seem to guarantee degradation as opposed to if he had dried it :-)
