    hello,

are freshly cut branches with green leaves (from hornbeam and cherry laurel) considered as brown material or as green material?

    thanks in advance.

    in the context of composting.

i know u use brown material like braches, paper, ...
and green stuff like grass, kitchen stuff , ...

but would freshly cut branches with leaves be considered as green material or as brown material

just to keep the balance in my compost heap

    thanks

In that case, I'd say they are 'brown' material (i.e., loose, open, woody), with 'green' usually meaning grass clippings wich compact down into a solid gooey mess.

Best to put them through a shredder before composting.
