My flowering almond bloomed sensationally this year unlike any other year. However, since then if has failed to leaf out with only a few leaves. Meanwhile the host tree (to the almond graft) is sending out shoots from the roots all over the lawn. Is the almond doomed and what can I do to stop the shoots?
Does sound like something happened to the scion, allowing the stock to proliferate. If the scion turns out to have died or dies soon then unless you have a reason for keeping the stock the whole thing will have to come out.
