http://xrl.us/uq2b 10 February 2007. There are four plants kept for three years. This is the first of the four to flower. The bulb is put out in the spring to flourish in a slightly shady part of the garden, then dug up before frost, and dried slightly by withholding water. About November, the plant in is watered and put into a lighted area in the basement. The flowers don't last more than about seven days, but they are a cheer up type of plant, after the dullness of winter. Durgan.
Its a beautiful plant, but may i suggest putting it in a clay pot and having 1/3 of the bulb above the soil. That would help it stay healthy for years to come.
