10 February 2007. There are four plants kept for three years. This is the first of the four to flower. The bulb is put out in the spring to flourish in a slightly shady part of the garden, then dug up before frost, and dried slightly by withholding water. About November, the plant in is watered and put into a lighted area in the basement.

The flowers don't last more than about seven days, but they are a cheer up type of plant, after the dullness of winter.

Its a beautiful plant, but may i suggest putting it in a clay pot and having 1/3 of the bulb above the soil. That would help it stay healthy for years to come.
