    Hi all,

Has anyone has success growing Feijoa sellowiana either on Vancouver Island, Gulf Islands or the Lower Mainland of BC? Is it hardy here? I read that it has been grown in western Scotland... so I am wondering about it.

It survives in the milder parts of Britain, but doesn't really thrive - the fruit don't mature through lack of summer heat.

Grows in multiple Seattle locations but cannot be considered fully hardy. Marked cold of last winter did not take the specimens I see repeatedly out but the potential is always there. I have seen singing of foliage in the past, have had attempts on colder Camano Island site freeze out. Flowering occurs but fruits not likely to be seen without artificial pollination. However, flowers are edible themselves - you don't have to get fruit for a sweet treat from this shrub.
