I passed these this evening and was late, so I didn't stop. The ones across the street are known 'Snow Goose'. I think this one is too.
Here are photos of those trees. I forgot that I had taken a photo last year of one with its Snowgoose nursery tag still attached! The Rancho is also there.
Nice big old Akebono on W6th between Fir St and Pine St by the Capture Photo Festival billboards. The flowers from the rootstock also showing.
On the seawall path by Granville Island there is a new row of Shirofugen (one with nursery tag still attached :) joining the nice old Kanzen grove there and over at Ron Basford Park on the island. The Kanzen outside the old Molson Brewery at the south end of Burrard Bridge are looking good with the festival banners fluttering along the bridge before the rainstorm.
Date: April 22, 2022 Location: 7th Ave and Alder Street Type: Kanzan and Shirofugen Along the 7th Ave Kanzan was blooming beautifully and at the corner of 7th and Alder. Shirofugen was partially 60% blooming maybe it will be full bloom in a few days.
a lovely curve of Shirofugen on the bike path/walk path opposite Granville island. They match the curve of Vancouver house seen in the distance.....sort of!
'Kanzan' on West 3rd, just east of Burrard. I really drove by looking for the 'Pink Perfection', which I think must be gone. I wasn't planning to photograph the street, but there it was in my mirror, not too much trouble. And this "magical" two-tone 'Kanzan'/avium was right there on the corner.
'Shogetsu'. I posted it at Fairview, and said I wasn't confident of the ID. But I felt pretty confident when I saw your photos and when I see what I posted six years ago. Nice perspective on the trees from across False Creek.
Well the chilly spring has resulted in one blossom on the Island Walk bike path between Granville Island and Vanier Park surviving into the summer!
