I saw a really beautiful picture of a bay laurel with a corkscrewed stem, and as I have never seen one for sale like that, have decided to try to grow one myself. I have seen tiny seedlings for sale that I can start my experiment with. My question is this: What kind of growth rate can I expect? I would ultimately want a tree 6' or 7' tall. I am assuming that to get the trunk to "corkscrew", I will have to lay the container on its side and rotate periodically. How often do I do this, and can anyone recommend what to use for container, how to contain soil while on its side, or any other useful tips? Many thanks in advance!

I have been thinking that perhaps the way to get it to corkscrew is to keep it upright, but attach it to a corkscrewed wire somehow? Any ideas?
