one question ,today i read about this plant :very rare, not in the trade commercie is illegal, police control this plant in the wild etc.realy is beautiful? In this news not avaible photo ,someone see this plant?or have more info?also i read that var.relictus is extint...
The only specimen ever found in the wild was discovered in 1895. This was a male, with no known females in existence. To this day the only way it can be propagated is through offsets. The pollen is used to fertilize other species and produce hybrids. I just visited Lotusland this week and will post photos of their three E. woodii specimens, dubbed "The three bachelors," in a few days.
Here is the photo I promised. There are three of these cycads all in a row, and apparently their nickname at Lotusland is "The Three Bachelors" because, of course, there is no known female E. woodii in the world.
tanks for this photo!!hey Sun this photo have copy?or is possible donwload in my pc?(Daniel is possible?) regards alex
Hello, Alex Yes, go ahead and copy it but only for your own personal use. Thank you for asking. The web site for Lotusland is www.lotusland.org
Alex, I see you are in Italy. If you ever get to England, there is a very old and large specimen there in the Durban Botanic Gardens.
