    Hi there,
I planted 10 x 10' Emerald Cedars just over a month ago. They are planted in a raised
bed that required 3 yards of garden mix soil. I have been watering regularly and checking
the soil to make sure it does not dry out. Unfortunately one of them has turned a brownish green color and a couple of the others have a few brown patches. The soil has a high PH level almost 8, should I fertilize these cedars or leave them be and keep watering.

    Thanks Richard Pickett Vancouver,BC

PS the brown one gets more sun then the others.

You mentioned checking to see that the soil does not dry out.

Are you checking the soil inside the root ball too, because that's more critical than the soil around the root ball.

I often stick sharpened dowel rods into the root ball since a finger usually can't. Dry stick means dry root soil.
