Hi, someone was throwing this plant out and I took it and repotted it in a black soil but it hasnt improved. The leaves have been turning yellow and becoming wilted. Reading other posts I think I overwatered it but I dont even know what kind of plant it is. Anyone have any ideas?

Looks like a Draceana, the one that is commonly called corn plant (for obvious reasons, though definitely not a corn plant as in Zea mays). These like bright indirect light and soil on the dry side. Soil should be allowed to dry somewhat on the surface before watering. Should still be somewhat moist when you stick your finger down into the soil though, so don't allow to dry out to deeply.

Perhaps a move away from the radiator is indicated.
