Hello all. I have a peace lily that I am trying to rescue from a friend. It was badly wilted and would come back when watered, but I kept telling her to keep it moist, as I have read it's not good to wait until it's wilted before watering, that causes eventual damage to the roots. So now it won't even come back up at all, the leaves have turned partially brown (think it got TOO much sun). My question is, can I cut it down flush to the dirt to give it a new start? Would that help it start to 're-grow'?

I'd move it to a shady area outdoors for a nice rejuvenation
in a steamy and rainy Florida Summer. By Fall it should only
need a few leaves removed to look like new.
