Why are my marigolds dying? For years I have planted a hedge of marigolds along the edge of my vegetable garden. They have always grown into big colorful plants. This year they are dying. The first ones I planted turned dark and splotchy and shrivelled up. I looked for a reason online and thought the leaf hopper seemed like a likely culprit. I replanted and sprayed well with Safer insecticidal soap. Then I noticed the same thing happening to the leaves. I sprayed again with double strength soap, coating the plants well on both sides of the leaves. But this morning I can see things are getting worse. Any suggestions? Other flowers appear unaffected.
