We have a 10 year old pink flowering crab tree that has been very healthy and full of pink blossoms every spring with the exception of this year. There are only a few blossom buds visible and most of the small twig ends where blossoms usually appear are very brittle and appear to be "dead endings". My wife has also told me she noticed some "black appearing fungus like matter" at the base of the tree last Fall.

We are located in northern Wisconsin and are hoping our beautiful tree is not dead and/or dying. We welcome any insights and or advise.
