Hello all, I have a pygmy date palm (3 planted in one pot) that I bought in December 2007. It was doing well for about 6 months then I noticed one of the three was starting to droop, older fronds first, but they weren't drying out or turning brown, they were just limp. The fronds started getting crispy but stayed green, while the trunk was turning brown. At first I wasn't sure if the whole plant was doomed because the new center unopened fronds were still soft and green. I repotted the palm with new soil, fertilized, but I'm pretty sure the first one is dead now. The second one just started doing the same thing, but at this point it still has some soft living unopened fronds in the center. I also noticed spider mites starting on the second one making the older fronds turn brown so I have been treating with Safers. The third and still healthy one has lots of leaves and new ones starting but the unopened fronds are all coated in a whitish paper like material, as are the unopened fronds on the second, dying one. What am I doing wrong? Please help me!
