I have a smallish patio garden, the "framework" of which was azaleas and small leafed rhodos. Once of my azaleas started to die about 4 years ago, and last year I finally had to dig it up, and I planed a skimmia instead. This year I had to dig up another, and I have another one that looks like it will die this year. All of the plants had been in my garden for about 20 years, and thrived. Can anyone tell me what is happenening? I would like to replace them, but I'm worried that they may have a disease, which would cause any other azaleas or rhodos I plant there to die as well.

If I do have a disease, is there anything I can do about it? I live in a large complex, and I'm worried that other rhodos in the neighbouring gardens could be affected.

If I can't plant any azaleas or rhodos in my garden, does anyone have a suggestion of a flowering periennel that I can plant it their stead? I really really miss them!
