Can you trim a mature Dwarf Alberta Spruce into pom pom's?
I've spiraled them before but they're grown out now. Would it kill them if I cut them like round topiaries?
    Thanks

I think if the pom look is what you want than you will be disappointed with the dwarf Alberta. it has a strict pyramidal form and is very dense with branching remaining tight to the trunk. poms are usually achieved with wider branching varieties conifer quite notably junipers. That being said its never too late to manicure your conifer within the limitations of the natural shape of the specimen, but it is a process to be done gradually over a few years (especially in older plants) ensuring you never remove more than 20-30% of the total foliage. Also be very thoughtful about your branch selection. pick a dominant branch that defines the bottom, body and top and start with those for shaping. good luck
