I have a west facing wall on our house in Colorado and it gets really HOT and dry. It also faces the street and is a showcase area. Any ideas on interesting vines or evergreen ivys that might like this area? I am building a rock garden across the front of the wall but need some hardy background. The ground freezes here, gets about 5-10 degrees below zero. Thanks!

Dwarf and slow-growing conifers to make a naturalistic backdrop to the rock garden. Planted between the wall and the main part of the rock garden, these may remove the need to have something on the wall itself.

Also, Sweet Autumn Clematis grow well in that type of condition. I know this from experience.
