We haven't seen this before - Dracunculus vulgaris, Araceae family, with common names of dragon lily, dragon arum, the black arum, the voodoo lily, the snake lily, the stink lily, the black dragon, the black lily, dragonwort, and ragons. (Wikipedia: Dracunculus vulgaris - Wikipedia). No smell yet, and I'm not sure I'll get back to see the open flower, which we were told would open and close within a few days.

Well, not much progress in three days. The second photo shows the markings on the flower stalk.

That was June 2. These are from June 6. Open, but not peak bloom. The plan is to check it tomorrow, but if it rains, that might be off and these might be the best I get. The leaves are looking a lot dryer than they looked last week. Do they suffer to support the flower?
