My dracaena deremensis has become rather unsightly looking, because it didn't seem to appreciate the growing conditions in our new condo. It's rather straggly and most of the leaves have brown areas. Can I just cut the stem close to the base and have the plant re-grow? Or does that only work for dracaena marginata?
yes, you can top it off and plant it...keep the original trunk though as that will sprout new growth. so, you'll end up with two plants.
Sweet! Instead of one ugly plant, I'll end up with two nice ones. If I cut it, how long before it starts to bring new leaves?
yup, we're in spring here. and spring is the perfect time to do a cutting and root it. as ed said, you should see something going within a few weeks.
