Hi, I live in North Texas (Dallas Fort Worth area) and my tree (a single trunk) Oleander doesn't have new spring growth on the existing limbs (pruned in the fall) and trunk, only vigorous sucker growth. This is my first spring to have it in my landscape. Did the winter kill it down to the roots? It thrived last summer. The limbs are dry and dead, but I'm not so sure about the trunk. It has obviously been trained for several seasons to have a single 2 inch trunk and I am afraid I am going to have to cut this thing down:( I would appreciate any advice about this.
Make a sharp little scratch halfway up the trunk. If there's green underneath, it's alive, and I'd cut back the suckers that are taking all the energy. If not...
