I noticed one summer day my Bradford Pear Tree and 2 or 3 brownish leaves. The very next day the entire tree looked scorched. I called a local nursery and due to our lack of rain in ohio and the high temps he told me to water the base and to make sure it did not run off. Well, weeks later, my poor tree is obviously diseased. It does have alot of the same characteristics as fire blight with all the leaves being dark brown. Some have fallen some have not. I have not noticed the branches having the shephard hook to them. The trunk of the tree has green patches. More so at the base and also around the base are mushrooms. Nasty oozing mushrooms. There was never really a time for me to "remove the infected area". I would have to take the entire tree. Have I completely lost this tree and is this harmful to animals or children? I wish I could post a picture but that would take me way to long to figure out. In all, my entire tree looks completely dead! Is it too late for this beauty? Thank you so much for your help it is appreciated.

    Doesn't sound very positive.

Contact the local extension office with photographs and samples is my suggestion, if images can't be posted here.
