Our 40 year old plus chestnut tree is gradually dying out from season to season. We have cut out a large section over the past few years, although the remainder appears to be healthy. The trunk on the affected side has a fungus growing on the bark which I suspect must have something to do with its state. Any suggestions on what might be the problem and how to treat?
