    Hi,
I am looking at the leaf pattern of two different genuses.
One is Dianthus ferrugineus and the other is Dianthus pavonius.
I have been trying to get some background information on them and there is absolutely nothing out there.
What I ultimately want to know, beside background into on them, is why Dianthus pavonius have so many leaves with all concentrated at the base of the plant, whereas Dianthus ferrugineus have fewer leaves distributed along the flower stock (moved up closer to the flower).
I mean what evolutionary means have forced them to have these characteristics.

    Thank you

If you visit the GRIN/NPGS website both names are in the database. It also gives references of where more information can be found. Both names have a synonym which may be helpful in your search.
