I have a Deiffenbachia malus, that does not get as much light as it should. It has bolted and is now touching the ceiling. The foliage is only on the top 1/3 of the plant. What would be the best way to cut the stem and re- root the top section, so I can move it to a sunnier location.

Would I be able to get two plants out of it, by leaving the base growing and re rooting the top section? Or maybe three, with the stem section that I would like to take out?

You can root these by cuttings, but not from soft green tissue. A solid somewhat woody stem is best. The top of the existing plant will likely produce a multiple head.
It's quite common for these to become leggy. As a side note, these do not like full hot sun and will burn under such conditions.

    Cheers, LPN.
