Dark Red Fragile Gilled Mushroom

    Pics don't do justice to the darkness of the velvety red caps though the 2nd pic is getting there. It does seem to fade with age, as in the 3rd pic. Size of that oldest one was about 4 cm across and 6 cm tall. Quite a lovely contrast between gills and the rest. Growing on the ground, pics taken Dec 22, Southern Vancouver Island.
