I have heard so much about Palms and how they can die from being damaged. I just bought two Queen Palms and one of the long "stem" leaves broke in half. Is that ok or should I be worried? I guess what I have heard is that if you cut the base of a palm it could get an infection of some sort and die. Just wondering if that goes for the whole tree or just the base...

    Thanks,
    Eric

I would say it should be fine, just prune the break area, to clean it up.

Infections can certainly be transmitted by pruning tools - if you are pruning more than one palm, disinfect the cutters between plants.

Thank you both. Good idea on cleaning.
