I purchased a Cyclamen 'purpurascens' and was going to keep it in a pot. I have tried one before but was not able to keep it alive?
I have many other cyclamen (hederifolium, coum, pseudobericum and repandum) and they all do well. All planted in the ground in suitable site in the gardern. I wanted to keep the 'purpurascens' form in a pot so that it could be on the deck when it was in flower as it has such a nice scent.
If anyone could give me some advice about keeping it in a pot(outside) this would be appreciated. Maybe better sited outside?
I have been told that it likes a little bit more water during it's growing period, over the other cyclamen?

Why do you think the first one died?

Charles, Light shade and good air circulation, but not windy, with constant moisture except during winter months seems to suit them when pot grown, watered from the bottom. They can be susceptible to botrytis if wet and having poor air circulation , otherwise. Seem to do fine in the ground in light shade and a moist area, although not as floriferous for me.
