It's still too cold to do a bark scratch....I tried....

However, I believe we just had our last frost freeze for the year and old man winter is on it's way out

I have a JM - single leader, no real branching. It did flush out from top to bottom with Buds and then they all fizzled out . I left it alone...bark test showed it was alive.

The lower 2/3 has some buds on it. Above that, no buds but it doesn't appear to have died back yet...

What do I do this season. Leave it alone or top it off on the last set of living buds.

Just wait for it to leaf, then you'll see for sure where the dead part starts. When you cut it off, leave a 2-3 cm stub. -E

If the bark is still green above this years leaf out, should I leave it alone........wishful thinking for new buds to develop further into the season

Or of there is no leaf above that this year, all the energy stops at the very 1st bud- leaf
