I write to inquire if there is way to match cultivars to a species of orchids and/or roses. genomic databases require genus and species. Much thanks as I await a reply
Can you ask the question in a different way? I'm a bit confused by it. For many cultivars, the breeding history is generally available with some investigation into references; patents and plant breeders' rights for modern ones (or through the cultivar registration authority). For cultivars predating these sorts of things, one has to dig into the literature (which is rarely online).
Greetings Mr. Mosquin: Much thanks for your timely response. I can report that the question has been answered through a database that lists genus, species and, when known, a cultivar name was cited. I see that you are quite accomplished in this discipline and hope to correspond if a similar issue develops. Respectfully, Phil
