    'Bloodgood'

I work for a private garden in DC, we have a Bloodgood' planted right near a flagstone terrace. The tree is about 8 years old. The roots have started to destroy the terrace on one side. The stone company has no choice to cut the root off and reset the flagstone. I was wondering what kind of damage this would do to the tree. Thanks!
