    Hello:

We have a weeping willow in our back yard that provides wonderful shape for our patio. A few weeks ago the truck split. I have tied it up using pieces of old garden hose so that the rope will not cut in to the bark but there is still a 4-5 inch separation in the truck. I called a tree person and they said i could drill a hole in the trunk in a few palces and insert a long bolt with a metal plate at each end. Using a winch I could winch the trunk together and tighten the bolts. Does this sound like a good idea. I know I need to do something because with our cold winters around here it won't survive. Thanks for taking your time to respond. Brian

I have a friend in Boise. a well qualified arborist, if you would like his contact info, send me a private message, he could likely come out and give you a good idea about whats going on.
