Is this a Cortinarius of some sort? Pecos Wilderness, New Mexico. Near Quemado Falls. Mostly Douglas Fir, Some ponderosa. ~10,000 ft asl.
To me it looks like Laccaria, possibly the common L. laccata, although that species usually appears in the fall. It could also be a Lactarius. Did you check for milky fluid appearing on cut surfaces?
i say it is white. we shouldn't rule out Lactarius either. does it lactate when the gills cut? is the stem hollow?
Spore print is inconclusive, nothing really happened. If I see some this weekend, I'll try again. I'm fairly certain its not Lactarius. vitog is probably correct with L. laccata.
