We are using one of the large black plastic composters. For a number of reasons, it doesn't seem to get warm enough to break down the contents (plant matter only), so we have been using red wiggler worms for three years with considerable success. I noticed a fair number of ants on the composter this week and think we have a nest in the compost. I am concerned that this might interfere with the worms - have I anything to worry about with that? If yes, what would you suggest to deal with the problem? The compost is used in both food and ornamental gardens.

Orange oil may discourage them, don't drench the compost just mist the pile weekly
til the ants get the message and move out.
