I wanted to post a few photos of plants I have combined with Maples for colour harmony and contrast. I would be interested in othe people's suggestions and photos of their plant combinations with JMs. First photo...'Suminagashi' with Robinia pseudoacacia 'Frisia' Second.....Emperor with Senecio 'Angel Wings' and Hosta cvs. as they change colour in autumn.
@Ken Hamilton good morning Ken, lovely combo' s you have there. Here is one of mine, Ariaki Nomura and Ginko biloba 'Autumn gold'.
First photo: Robinia pseudoacacia are carriers of Verticilium daliae (endemic on all cultivars), be careful with that tree near japanese maples. Besides Euonymus also.
I love the small-scale combination of Berberis thunbergii ‘Monry’ and my self-seeded weeping maple. Out of the frame is complimentary Japanese Bloodgrass.
No maples in this one but thought I would share. Hydrangea macrophylla (middle) , with 2 hydrangea endless summer (left and right). Thuja occidentalis ‘Emerald Green’ (rear far right), and can't remember the name of the trees lined in the back, with diff varieties of marigolds in front.
