Looks like we have a couple days of extreme cold....well extreme for our area (Vancouver). Do we have to worry about certain sensitive perennials going to die off with this extreme cold. Or are a couple days ok?
You did not specify, what these sensitive perennials are, so it's hard to give precise direction. If there is some snow, just pile it around your most sensitive perennials. If not, then several layers of floating row cover may help. Even a bucket, upside down on top of your plant can help it to survive.
More in general of the common perennials that we see in our gardens, nothing specific, walking downtown I see a lot of palm tress, can they handle it over the next couple days etc.
Even palms have variable hardiness. It depends significantly on variety. Trachycarpus wagnerianus is hardy down to -25ºC Rhapidophyllum hystrix is hardy even down to -30ºC Most palms will get damages at -10ºC. If you have a small palm, then it would be safer to cover it.
