I have heard that sprinkling coffee grounds around the base of roses helps ammend the soil. The grounds are suppose to attract earth worm to help with the soil. Has anyone ever heard of this practice for japanese maples. I have used this on my roses and it has worked well. Mike
Yes, fine. Coffee grounds are acidic, and Japanese Maples like acidic soil. Just put the grounds down as a mulch and let the worms work it into the soil.
Have heard that some coffee shops will often save the grinds for gardeners rather than throwning them out so if you need still more you might try this.
I have a Starbucks that really takes care of me with coffee grounds. Every morning I pick up a huge bag with my morning cup.
