I'm thinking of planting a few of the Clematis montana Grandiflorum - white color - to scramble up in to some cedar trees

I had an old pink one but it was dug up damaged by a contractor recently (big sad face)

anyway - since I have this opportunity - I am considering white this time

it's a dry spot with decent soil and drainage, and esp once established it should be ok

it's largely shaded year round (at the roots)

near the ocean beach - can get cold in this part of greater Vancouver (outflow like this past week)

    OPINIONS, ANYONE?
    thank you in advance.

I had the same idea a few years back. Maybe 4 years ago, I planted one very near the shore in Sechelt. I did not see it again til last year. I thought it had not taken. It was still only 3 meters of vine with a dozen blooms. Hopefully it will grow up into the trees this year.

The ones growing into the trees here at the Garden certainly do well and provide an amazing summer display.
