Something is destroying my clematis armandii, the leaves are deformed and some of the stems appear to have been severed. I'm trying to train it to grow on a wall of rip-rap. Not a happy camper and neither am I This is a plant I put in last spring and the same thing happened. I have had the same clematis previously. It was on a north facing trellis, no problems. I had great hopes for this site, south-east. It is a bit exposed but I hoped that the ebullience of the plant would overcome. Photos were taken using a background to show the problems more precisely
