Two I've never seen until today, my guesses: 1. Clavaria purpurea (the coin is a US quarter) 2. Trametes versicolor
How could Clavaria purpurea be incorrect? Those are beautiful!!!! As for the trametes, those guys can be almost any color it seems, thus the name. Those look a little meaty, as in, thicker than i would like, but quite possibly Turkey Tails. I like to find younger fresh ones with lots of new growth, when they are easier to identify. Were they growing on some fruit or nut wood? Or Oak? Thanks for sharing so much. peas
>>Those are beautiful!!!! I know, I was stunned. I had never seen one before. I had knelt down to inspect a B. edulis for cutting and there it was. No hardwoods here. I forget exactly, but the trametes was likely on a spruce or aspen.
Cool...I wasn't certain of my original id because the book said that it "clustered by the dozens" and I saw this one 'plant'. Well, today, I found a cluster.
