I have planted a Choisya ternata in direct sun (gets 5 to 6 hours a day). It is on the west side of my home and the growing Zone is 8; it is not being overwatered. I have made sure the soil is well drained. The plant is yellowish and looks distressed. Is this too much sun, what could be causing it to look distressed.
No, this likes a hot position. It probably is a problem at the root, if not the wrong moisture situation then maybe a nitrogen deficiency. Dig around in the soil near it to make sure you have the true picture of the moisture level there. Sample soil and have it analyzed to get an idea what the nutrient etc. situation is. King County Cooperative Extension should be able to help with soil testing.
Hi, you may also have Choisya ternata 'Sundance', the new growth of which is yellow. I have two of these (both healthy), one is more yellow than the other. Once you have eliminated all of the usual issues that can cause yellowing of foliage, this may explain the yellowness of the plant http://www.ausgardener.com.au/pages/Choisya-ternata.html Good luck, bertoli
Thank you. This is very useful information. I will go back to the nursery to ask some additional questions.
