My cherry tree strated showing excellent green leaves shortly after April and with little hot weather I removed the wood mulch. Now on May 26 find quite a few bund of leaves have started drying. There is no insect. Can it be on account of any werm/insect in soil. What is the remedy?

Leave the mulch on the soil all the time. Just don't ever have it against the trunk. Shriveling leaves at this time is probably something like bacterial canker.
