Morning D, hope everything survived yesterday's wind. These two little bundles of delight blew in yesterday to cheer the day up, Peaches n Cream and Omure Yuma. Hopefully my little splurge is over now for this year lol

Some minor damage to some small new branches, but not too bad N. Hope it was OK for you also.?
Those are two lovely maples you brought home yesterday, or were they in the post? Whatever way you got them, they are wonderful.
They will get lots of watering tomorrow looking at the forecast. Lol.

    Hi Luke,

mum very interested in your picture of Hino Tori Nishiki.
It’s completely different to mine which is close to this picture I found online. This is the top picture and I’ve copied and posted your picture at the bottom of the post.
Where did yours come from and I’d welcome others thoughts on which is typical of the cultivar.

Nothing I've noticed, although the old Budleigh seems to be up against my Seiryu, I'll get the secateurs out in a bit.
They were two cheapies that came in the post, must say I'm very pleased, especially at the price.
Yes, I've just seen the forecast, it's lovely here at the moment though so hopefully I can trim the lawn later.

I went out earlier this week and staked my trees with the fervor of an angry Van Helsing. Just in time for the gale-force winds that have been blowing for the last few days!

What a good idea Xi. Keep then in for a little longer if I were you. A deluge of rain expected tomorrow with quite high winds again. Roll on June.....

Haha, I picked my moment and dashed out for pics in between raindrops - it's been coming down here for the last 48 hours!

    Isn't the British weather marvellous?

Hi @Jaybee63, I think the pic of @Luke’s Maples 's Hinotori nishiki is the 8th photo in his post. The problem seems to be that his labelling of the pictures is not clear, rather than he has the wrong tree.

Edit: here is mine for reference, still in early spring mode:

    Thank you Maf.
I’ve always had concerns whether mine is the correct cultivar as I’ve never seen one to compare.
Your photo is very much appreciated and I will use it to compare when back home.

And incase anybody missed, what I think is a magnificent photo due to those Ukigumo’s. I’ll post it again and on the spring colour thread. If you’ve already seen it then I apologise but with plants these pretty I can’t imagine anyone being too disappointed ;-)

    Plant envy, @Luke’s Maples !!

Last two from me for today: my Beni Otake arrived snapped in half (top half completely disconnected, withered and dead in the box) last summer. I screamed, got in touch with the seller and - bless him - he sent me a new one. This is actually the 'snapped' one - it survived and is flourishing, and I like it better than the replacement(!)

Also, we all know Crimson Queen but has anyone ever heard of 'Crimson Princess'? This is the name this little beauty was sold under, but it's still so small it's hard to tell whether it's a dwarf or just slightly unambitious...

I've heard of it Xi, but not seen one in the flesh so to speak. There is not one shown on the forum cultivar photos, so if you want to add yours that would be an ideal start for this maple.

I was always under the impression that Princess was a dwarf version of Crimson Queen. But you may know differently.
