    Hello
I am in the process of buying a property that has a large cedar hedge out front that looks like it has not been pruned or trimmed for a long time. At least 25 to 30 feet high. I would like to thin it out and select a few of the best looking cedars and nurture them into individual trees. Although I don't want an eyesore to be the result!
What are your thoughts on this being a successful endeavour for me?
Thanks in advance for any responses!
    Mike

Take it all out and replant. I have rarely (if ever come to think of it) seen an ex-hedging cedar that looked anything but ugly. There are some beautiful and more suitable evergreens available in a the garden centres for $50-100 in good size tubs.
