I have a lovely blue spruce tree on he corner of my property, absent of any shade. It has little cone like appendages on it, that are rather hard in contex and appear to have a fly or insect living within each cone. They are not pine cones. I grew up in upstate NY where my family had 10 or more bluse spruces ranging from 30 -60ft tall, and aevery year my dad removed as many of these little cones as possible and burned them. What I have appears to be identical to those. Does anyone know what these things are and what measures I need to take to rid my lovely tree of them?
