I have been using the bonsai methods to shape my tree collection over the years, but have yet to use any of the JM trees in my collection. I have a huge large leaf maple in my yard which drops seeds in the thousands each year, so many germinate that if i don't pull them every year, my yard would be a forest in no time. these trees grow so fast, are bug resistant, and will grow in almost any conditions. Can I use this type of maple as root stock for grafting? as it would be nice to be able to use these little trees instead of pulling them all. thank you for any help

Unfortunately you cannot use other maples species as understock for JMs. Must be from the same genetic family.
