Hi, I live in Las Vegas and every once in awhile I find these weird pod looking things that look like they have hatched. They are embedded in the soil in my planters. Haven't had any luck looking them up online. On the picture attached is also one before it has hatched (at the base of the shovel). Kind of a yellowish egg type of thing. And the leftover rubbery casing that seems to have channels in it. Thanks for any suggestions!!
If it is possible to post a closer shot of these that would be helpful - hard to see detail. I agree with Vitog that Peziza is a possibility, or a similar sort of large cup fungi. There are also some truffles that look like this.
