    Hello forum members,

I received the following through email. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Raakel

I live in Port Colborne, Ontario. I have been able to keep a camellia alive in my
solarium for about 15 years but it is suffering and I want to repot. I have been
advised by a Victoria nursery owner (through my Brentwood Bay daughter) to
purchase Sunshine #1 potting mix or Fison's #1 mix at Wal Mart. Unfortunately,
the local Wal Mart does not recognize the name and I cannot inquire, says Wal
Mart.ca about inventory items. Will you please advise as to the best kind of mix so
that I can pick out from the dozen or so that are available? There is one mix that is
labelled "tropical" and has a special ingredient that holds water in small capsules
which release the water "as needed." Is this advisable? I welcome your advice.

    ...an email response.

I finally found a dealer in Ontario and in nearby St. Catherines, who sold an appropriate mix (Sunshine #1) for camellias. Many thanks for your interest.
