cactus food and when?

    I have taken possesion of a cactus that is is about 10 years old and about 4 feet tall. My question is , what do I feed this plant and how often?

    Cacti don't like a lot of food. 1/2 strength African Violet food is my personal choice. 1/4 houseplant food (20-20-20 or 20-30-20) works well too. Feeding too heavily causes soft, pale new growth so avoid that. You can also feed them cactus food, but for one cactus it's not worth the investment.

    Feed once every 1-2 months during the growing season (late spring-early fall). Water well first, then water with the fertilizer water.
