I've done a bit of searching through catalogues and on the web and it seems that all mushroom starter kits are for shitake or oyster mushrooms. I know that button mushrooms are 'ordinary' but we really like portobellas as part of our vegan diet and to purchase them in stores is very costly!

We live on an acreage in Manitoba and think we should be able to grow them ourselves. Does anyone have any ideas or tips to get us started?

    Thanks

They provide a pretty wide variety of species inocula, provide workshops and educational materials on growing various fungi.
